Single screens are supplied as one-piece fully welded units with integral endplates to help seal at the sides. All have the following standard characteristics:
There are three types of single screen models; type B, D and E. Type B is a full height screen with a head loss of 1270mm; type D is a half height screen with a head loss of 705mm; and type E is a quarter height screen with a headloss of 400mm.
Larger hydro projects (generally 200 l/s and above) often require multiple screen installations. There are five types of screen models available for this type of scheme. In various combinations they will produce the required flow rate. All have the following standard characteristics:
Type A, and type AB are both full height screens with a head loss of 1270mm; type C is a half height screen with a head loss of 700mm; type F is a quarter height screen with a head loss of 450mm and type K is an extended-height screen with a head loss of 1900mm.
At some remote sites prefabricated stainless steel sumps have been used instead of concrete for the smaller screens. These are referred to as Type-S, and the design is site specific. More details are available on request.
